Regional Occup Health NurseOwens Corning is investing in excess of $200 million to transform our Kansas City Fiberglass Insulation Plant—adding jobs, expanding capabilities, and shaping the future of manufacturing at a facility that has been a cornerstone of building products production for 80 years. We're looking for a Regional Occup Health Nurse who thrives on challenges, inspires teams, and delivers results that matter. This non-supervisory position is responsible for the provision and management of occupational health and wellness services at a unionized manufacturing facility and warehouse in Kansas City, Kansas.Duties include coordinating health initiatives on behalf of employees and contractors, individually, and in partnership with the local medical community when applicable. This role combines clinical nursing expertise with musculoskeletal treatment and injury prevention strategies to support employee health, safety, and productivity. This will be accomplished by planning, implementing and managing health-related programs, engaging in first aid treatment, and being a point of contact for both work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.This position reports directly to the facility EH&S via a dotted line to the Clinical Manager and or Business Occ Health Nurse. Activities include overseeing and maintaining an Owens Corning (OC) onsite occupational health clinic, administering and maintaining the policies, programs, and procedures of the clinic consistent with the company's general policies concerning nursing services as defined by Enterprise Health and Medical (EHM), managing the clinic's budget and procurement of necessary equipment and supplies, assessing and providing first aid intervention to injured and ill employees, participating in ergonomic evaluation and special investigations of workplace incidences of a medical nature, coordinating and leading medical effort during medical emergencies, serving as the liaison between the company and the local emergency room during medical emergencies involving injured workers, being available during regular and non-business hours to assist with the facility's emergency response effort, working closely with Leave of Absence Team to manage personal illness and workers compensation cases, interfacing and collaborating with case managers to facilitate return-to-work plans, participating in all safety meetings, actively engaging both Safety and HR in the discussion and analysis of all occupational injury and illness cases, lending technical and administrative assistance in the development and implementation of safety programs with identifiable health components or requiring clinical or nursing expertise, participating in disaster planning (terrorism, etc.) and business continuity planning, engaging the local community in such planning where appropriate, participating fully in appropriate activities such as Hazard Recognition Training, Incident Investigation and, especially, Emergency Planning and Response, maintaining confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations, ensuring secure access protocols, acting as liaison and ambassador for the company to the community at large when health concerns are at issue and cooperating with the local community, when appropriate, to assist in the delivery of needed public health programs that are advantageous to both the community and the company, providing all clinical activities following the Standard Nursing Guidelines and under the direction of the Corporate Medical Director (CMD) in accordance with applicable laws governing state licensure and national certification, participating in appropriate, periodic conference calls with HR, LOA Team EH&M and operations to discuss absences due to personal illnesses and work related injuries and illnesses, participating in periodic conference calls organized by EH&M to discuss relevant nursing and health and wellness issues, participating in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines to be used during the provision of clinical services, cooperating with CHS to develop and implement policies to create uniformity, consistency and quality assurance in the delivery of nursing care, conducting musculoskeletal assessments and providing soft tissue management for employees experiencing discomfort or early signs of strain, performing job task evaluations and ergonomic assessments to identify and mitigate injury risks, delivering coaching on movement optimization, posture, and injury prevention strategies, presenting educational sessions on biomechanics, safe lifting techniques, and physical wellness, collaborating with EHS and HR to integrate musculoskeletal health into orientation and ongoing training, facilitating health monitoring and medical surveillance exams, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and preventive screenings, coordinating specialty services such as drug and alcohol testing, hearing and vision screenings, spirometry, travel medicine consultations and immunizations, leading wellness initiatives focused on nutrition, fitness, and chronic disease prevention, supporting the formation and activities of wellness committees.
