Data and AI Agent Intern

Goodie Bag is a marketplace for local surplus food, connecting local shops and customers to reduce food waste and promote sustainable practices. We are expanding our team and seeking a talented and innovative Data & AI Agent Intern to join us. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in implementing cutting-edge technology to enhance user experience and support Goodie Bag's mission.

As our Data & AI Agent Intern, you'll help build and refine the next generation of AI-driven agents and data-powered tools that personalize recommendations, automate workflows, and surface insights from our growing dataset. You'll partner with engineering and product teams to prototype intelligent agents, run experiments, and turn raw data into actionable product improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• AI Agent Development: Design, implement, and test AI-powered agents (e.g. task bots, recommendation engines, smart assistants) that elevate the user experience.
• Data Analysis & Insights: Pull, clean, and analyze datasets (SQL, Python, etc.) to discover patterns, measure feature impact, and inform product decisions.
• Feature Testing & Refinement: Work with engineers to A/B test new AI features, collect feedback, and iterate for performance and usability.
• ML/AI Integration: Research and integrate LLMs, NLP/NLU pipelines, and other ML models into our toolchain, optimizing for speed, accuracy, and cost.
• App Collaboration: Support Flutter-based UI integrations when needed (e.g. embedding agent interfaces, dashboards, or chat modules).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Present findings and demos to the team; help translate technical work into product roadmaps.

Qualifications:

• Technical Foundations: Comfortable with Python (pandas, scikit-learn, LangChain or similar), SQL or equivalent, and data visualization tools.
• AI/ML Experience: Hands-on with AI agent frameworks, LLMs, and NLP/NLU libraries. Experience fine-tuning or deploying models is a strong plus.
• App Dev Skills: Flutter experience is valuable—bonus if you've embedded chatbots or analytics dashboards.
• Problem-Solver: You break complex problems into data-driven experiments and get excited by ambiguous challenges.
• Team Player: Strong communicator who enjoys pairing with engineers, designers, and PMs to drive feature success.
• Self-Starter: Able to own tasks end-to-end with limited supervision and deliver clear updates on progress.
